"It does what it says on the tin"I
In 2005 with sponsorship hard to find Skid Carrera, keen to get into the SCSA series, choose a crowd funding option. Through the MyOwnRaceTeam.com website he offered race fans the opportunity to support his racing. As 'owners' within the syndicate members got to see behind the scenes and were allowed to join the crew leading the car from the pit garage onto the pit lane for the pre-race ceremonies. An interesting project and one that tempted me. At the time I didn't have the surplus funds but is a principle that I contribute towards with a couple of race horses.
Do wonder if it's something that could be used within the BriSCA fraternity. I recall Phil Haigh 454 selling badge space on his car at a pound a time. This helped fund the racing of one of the sports characters at the time and I think was quite popular. I'm not sure how much this could help these days with eye watering racing budgets these days apparently out of the range of the lay persons pocket.
And what a name for a stockcar driver - Skid Carrera, a dream for a motorsport sponsor.
